INTO ACTION: A Festival of Art, Activism + Social Justice

Friends, family, followers, fans -- WHOEVER you are. I want to share with you all another FREE (it's donation based), beautiful thing you can do in Los Angeles. I do want to remind you all that this Art Expo is only in town January 13th thru 21st. It came just at the perfect time, right before Martin Luther King Jr Day -- which just so happened to be the day that Carlos and I decided to go.

Disclaimer: If you're in LA & are planning on going to this expo, I promise I didn't ruin the whole exhibit for you. I just want to make sure my friends & followers reading from far away can join the fun too!

Can anyone else relate to this being  that 2017 was ONE HELL OF A YEAR?

This piece really made me think about how FUCKED the United States really is. We're a nation who cares more about money than people's lives. Monday through Sunday, 24 hours a day, people all over the world are dealing these social issues. Some people are better about putting a smile on than others, but every single human being is coping with something. Remember to be compassionate, especially to those in need.

This piece was epic, one view of it shows the American Flag & the other view of it shows the American Dollar Sign ($). Sorry I don't have a photo of the other side, I did a video instead which you can actually STILL view on my Highlight on Instagram. Just scope the 'Into Action' story.

Nothing like a good Shepard Fairey piece. Is anyone else as into his work as we are?

For those of you who have never been to California, you may not understand this as much --  but the homeless population in the entire state is skyrocketing. More & more people are considering a street block as their home vice an actual roof over their head, and sure -- the weather is nice here, but it's still not cool to have people living on the streets. It hurts my heart so much because I know how hard it is to feel like you can't catch a break. In Los Angeles, I feel like there's always a fee here, a tax there, a ticket here, but we knew upon coming to this city that it would be a challenge. This city is filled with opportunities, good & bad. I know what it feels like to start from the bottom with just the clothes in your suitcase.

Where all my NASTY WOMEN at?

If you're just now tuning into my life, you may not know, but my boyfriend Carlos and I were SERIOUSLY affected by the last hurricane that hit Puerto Rico, named Maria. You guys ACTUALLY think I would leave an island willingly? The answer is no. We had zero power. Zero Water. Not enough gasoline to drive to family. Barely any communication, so we had to leave. Puerto Rico is a dream, and I've never felt more "at home." Carlos was born & raised in Puerto Rico & I am half Puerto Rican from my father's side and grew up on the island as a kid. I moved back to the island in May to shoot Swimwear & that's when it all changed. Maria was strong, heavy & ruthless. She demolished the entire island. leaving no remorse. I never once felt like I was in a SERIOUS life or death situation and I can honestly say, me coming back to LA after this disaster has made me more aware & knowledgeable than ever. I pay more attention to world news than bullshit twitter posts. Every little interaction I have with people nowadays is special to me. I'll be sure to share an actual diary from my Hurricane Maria story, I never actually got to share all the footage & journals I wrote through that experience, so I'll definitely save all of that for another blog.

Meanwhile, be sure to check out Into Action!
